Meet the "rev"...
The Reverend Robert "Rob" K. Kirbach grew up in the shadows of the old Shurtleff College campus in Alton, IL. He was baptized into the Upper Alton Baptist Church family in December, 1993 and was very active in church activities, Sunday school, and youth group. Many of Rob’s childhood Sunday school teachers and even Rob’s own grandmother were students at Shurtleff College. After graduating Alton High School in 2001, Rob continued to serve his UABC family by leading music on Sunday mornings and assisting with Sunday evening youth meetings. In 2002, Rob also began leading music across town at the Cherry Street Baptist Church. 2004 saw Rob leave Alton to lead the youth ministries at the First Congregational Church in Highland, IL. In 2005, Rob left Highland and joined the staff at First Baptist Church Edwardsville, IL as youth director and was later licensed into the ministry and continues to be sponsored for formal ordination by that congregation. Rob is a graduate of Greenville College but began his collegiate studies at SIUe in 2001. While a student at SIUe, Rob worked at the campus radio station, WSIE-FM. Rob also continues to work as the basketball public address announcer for the SIUe cougars.
When not at work, Rob enjoys motorcycling, playing keyboards in rock and blues bands, umpiring college baseball, and spending time with his family. Rob, his wife, Julie, and their daughter, Ella currently live in Alton.
